Turkmenistan U20

Köpetdag Stadium sits at the centre of Ashgabat and has hosted the senior national team for years, with room for 26,503 inside when a fixture calls for it. Selected matches move instead to the 45,000-seat Ashgabat Olympic Stadium.

There is no separate founding date for the age group itself: the team grew out of the Football Federation of Turkmenistan, formed once the country joined FIFA and the AFC in 1994, and it has entered U-19 and U-20 Asian Cup qualifiers since at least 2002 without reaching a finals tournament. Regionally the record reads much the same way. In the CAFA U20 Championship, Turkmenistan have watched Uzbekistan and Iran take the last two titles, in 2023 and 2024, and matches against Uzbekistan U20, Tajikistan U20 and the Kyrgyz Republic U20 have hardened into what the region calls its Central Asian Derby.

Recent squads have leaned on players such as Denis Titov, who came through Rostov's youth ranks, and Yakupmuhamed Govshudov.

Green remains the shirt colour at home, white away, a straight lift from the national flag.
