The one spell worth telling came at the turn of the millennium. Værløse won Serie 1, then the seventh tier of Danish football, in 2000, and followed it a year later with the Sjællandsserien title. A qualifying play-off in 2002 kept the run alive, and in 2003 the club topped its group in the Danmarksserien. That result sent Værløse into the 2. division in 2004, the first time in its history the club had reached the third tier of the league system.
