The players who took the field in 2024 did so without a place in the Second Division at all — the club had sold its spot there, and the only way back up ran through the Third Division. They took it, sharing the title with Quang Ninh FC.

Winning the Third Division meant climbing back rather than simply staying up.

In September 2025 the club left Ho Chi Minh City altogether, shifted its base north to Phu Tho province and became Xuan Thien Phu Tho FC . That same year it finished runner-up in Group B of the Second Division, enough to go up to V.League 2.

Its home now is Viet Tri Stadium , a 20,000-seat ground in Viet Tri that doubles as a training base for Vietnam's under-20 national team, with the club itself turning out in white shirts trimmed with sky blue at the borders and shoulders.
