Waremme

Two promotions out of the Belgian third tier, fourteen years apart, bracket the club's best football. The first came in 1932 , when Stade Waremmien topped the division then called Promotion; the second in 1946 . Since then the club's titles have been won a level lower — four of them, in 1958, 1962, 1972 and 1983.

The town sits in Hesbaye, the arable plateau west of Liège, and the derby with RFC Warnant .

Raymond Goethals managed here. That is a line worth pausing on: he took charge of a club whose home is a municipal pitch for 2,000. Of the players raised in Waremme, Alexis De Sart is the one whose route is easiest to trace — out of the youth section and on to Standard Liège.

The ground carries the name of Edmond Leburton, on Rue des Prés at the edge of town. Red and white are the colours; Les Wawas is what everyone calls them.

The club took shape in 1921 and registered with the Belgian Football Association the following year, receiving matricule 190.
