Before it was a football pitch, this plot grew almonds — the trees cleared to make way for the ground that the wider complex has grown around ever since. What is now the Ciudad Deportiva Municipal de San Vicente del Raspeig did not arrive as a finished stadium: the pitch came first, and the administrative block and changing rooms were only added in 1995, designed by architects Consuelo Argüelles and José Blanco.

The playing surface has been reworked more than once. A major renovation in 2005 was followed a decade later by the switch from natural grass to artificial turf, a contract worth around €169,000 taken on to bring down upkeep costs. That turf is due to be relaid again in June 2026, with Mondo Ibérica contracted for the job at a cost of roughly €230,000.

In 2025 the town council voted unanimously to rename the main stadium Estadio Ramón Asensi Juan, acting on a request from residents. Asensi was a veteran of local side El Español de San Vicente and founder of Jove Español, remembered for his part in building up amateur football in the town.

Capacity is put at 2,500 by the municipality, Futbolme and LaPreferente, though some databases still carry an inflated 3,800. CD Español de San Vicente, of the fifth-tier Tercera Federación, play their home matches here. The complex doubles as a venue for roller hockey tournaments and municipal festivals, and a second phase of building work — a new water centre costing more than €4 million — is expected to open in 2027.
