Estadio Elías Figueroa Brander
Valparaíso, Chile
Formerly: Estadio Municipal de Valparaíso, Estadio Regional Chiledeportes, Estadio Playa Ancha
Playa Ancha is a hill, and the ground sits high enough on it.
The rebuilding of 2012–2013 changed the place — plastic seating, LED floodlights, ten VIP boxes, eight press positions, a conference room, a gym, and an eight-lane synthetic athletics track around the pitch, all brought up to FIFA standard. It reopened on 19 February 2014 under its current name, honouring Elías Figueroa Brander, and the capacity settled at 20,575 after an early post-reconstruction estimate proved too generous once the actual seat count was checked.
The record crowd predates all of that. On 25 October 1953, 23,109 people watched Santiago Wanderers lose 2-0 to Colo-Colo here.
