Belgrano do not share this ground with anyone else in the city, and that separateness runs through the whole story of the place. Estadio Julio César Villagra sits in the Alberdi neighbourhood, close enough to the streets around it that everyone in Córdoba still calls it by the name that stuck rather than the official one: Gigante de Alberdi.

It opened in 1929 with room for ten thousand people, a modest ground for a modest era, and stayed that way through decades of Belgrano's history before anyone touched it again. The 1997 works came first, though the club left no clear record of what capacity resulted from that round of building. Two decades later, in 2017, the stadium was pushed out to thirty thousand, a jump that matched the club's return to Argentina's top flight. The most recent change came on 27 September 2024, when the Tribuna Cuéllar finished its expansion and pushed the total to 38,500, the largest the ground has ever been.

That pattern, of a stadium quietly growing every time the club's fortunes did, is the closest thing this place has to a signature. There is no redevelopment story tied to a World Cup here, no sudden reconstruction after a disaster, just a home ground stretched wider in stages as Belgrano needed it to be. The pitch itself remains natural grass throughout, unchanged even as the stands around it kept climbing higher.
