Belgrano's own field once stood a few streets over, a pitch called Pecho Frío on land Ramón Moreno handed the club after its first years playing on a patch known as the Canchita del Cañaveral.
The club took shape on 19 March 1905, under a carob tree in Alberdi, a day before the anniversary of the national flag — which is why the founders named the team for the flag's creator, General Manuel Belgrano, and why celeste and white became the colours. Arturo Orgaz took the presidency at fourteen.
Within the Liga Cordobesa, the regional first division, Belgrano holds the record: 31 titles stretching from 1913 to 2013. A play-off win over Banfield in 1990/91, then Aldosivi, then Olimpo, then, in 2010/11, a two-legged win over River Plate brought promotion to the Argentine top flight. Luis Fabián Artime , son of the forward who played for the national team in the 1960s, became the club's own leading scorer and later its president. Emiliano Rigoni came up through the same academy before moving on to Zenit and Atalanta; Matías Suárez did too, and after spells at River Plate and Anderlecht he came back to Belgrano in 2024.
