About the player
Tandil produced González Metilli, and it was Santamarina, the club of his home city, that gave him his start, with a debut in March 2016. Argentinos Juniors signed him, though the years that followed were defined by loans: Estudiantes de Buenos Aires, Tigre, and Central Córdoba.
It was during the loan spell at Central Córdoba, in August 2022, that González Metilli produced the moment that still defines him. A volley struck against Rosario Central was accomplished enough to earn him a place on the shortlist for FIFA's Puskás Award that year, an unusual distinction for a midfielder who had spent most of his career shuttling between clubs rather than settling into one.
In January 2024 he moved to Belgrano, a transfer worth around €1.7 million that finally gave him a settled home. He has since become a regular fixture for the Córdoba club, wearing the number 11 shirt and racking up close to eighty appearances. The move paid off in team honours as well: Belgrano won the Torneo Apertura in 2026, with González Metilli part of the squad that claimed the title.
He has never been called up to any Argentina national team, senior or youth, leaving his international ambitions, if he has them, unfulfilled so far. His career has instead been built domestically, from a provincial debut to a nominated goal to a league title, with Belgrano now the clearest home he has had since leaving Tandil.
