Federico Ricca

Federico Ricca's career has run through three different footballing cultures without ever losing the label that followed him out of Uruguay. He came through Danubio, and by the time he left for Spain in a €2.5 million move to Malaga, he had already won the Uruguayan title with the club that produced him.

The Malaga years were the most productive of his career in pure playing time, more than eighty appearances before Club Brugge paid €3 million for him in 2019. In Belgium, Ricca found the most decorated spell of his career: back-to-back league titles with Brugge in 2019/20 and 2020/21, followed by a Belgian Super Cup in 2021. He stayed on in the Belgian top flight after leaving Brugge, joining OH Leuven as a free agent and spending three seasons there before a further free transfer took him to Argentina in 2025, signing for Belgrano.

Belgrano won the 2026 Torneo Apertura with Ricca in the squad, a title added to a personal collection that also includes a Pan American Games gold medal, won with Uruguay's Olympic team in 2015.

At full international level, Ricca's involvement has been brief. He earned a single cap for Uruguay, making his debut against Ireland in June 2017, and has not added to that tally since. It leaves an unusual imbalance in his career: a footballer with domestic and continental honours across three countries, but only a single cap in the senior national shirt.
