About the player
Manuel Vicentini has never played a competitive league match for Boca Juniors, and yet he came up through the same Jorge Griffa academy pipeline that has shaped generations of Argentine goalkeepers before spending two years in the reserves without breaking into the first team.
It was at Sarmiento de Junín, where he moved in 2015 and eventually claimed the starting job from the 2018/19 season, that Vicentini built his reputation. The defining moment came in the final of the 2020/21 Primera Nacional promotion playoff, when Sarmiento faced Estudiantes de Río Cuarto with a return to Argentina's top flight on the line after four years away. The match went to penalties, and Vicentini saved the decisive kick to send his side up 4-3.
He repaid the move immediately, helping Belgrano win the 2022 Primera Nacional and secure their own promotion. The loan was made permanent at the start of 2023, and Vicentini has worn Belgrano's colours as a free-agent signing ever since.
A brief loan spell at Colón followed in 2024, though it was interrupted in November of that year by a torn pectoral muscle, sustained in a collision during a match against Deportivo Madryn. The injury kept him out for around 20 days and cost him a place for Colón's play-off tie against Alvarado. Once the loan ended, he returned to Belgrano, where he continues to play.
