Alcorcón built its ground the modern way: not adapted, not inherited, but put up whole in 1999 to give a club a home of its own rather than a borrowed one. It opened on 19 May that year with Real Madrid as visitors, a friendly that finished goalless — a fixture out of proportion to a stadium meant to seat 5,100, and a fair marker of how the club's ambitions have occasionally outrun its ground.

The pitch is natural grass, and the ground still answers to Avenida Pablo Iglesias, on the western edge of Madrid's urban sprawl. There is no inherited stand, no relocated turnstile from an older ground: everything here dates from the same year, which is unusual among Spanish lower-tier venues that tend to carry a patchwork of add-ons from different decades.

Estadio Municipal de Santo Domingo is not to be confused with the ground of the same name in El Ejido, opened two years later in Almería — a coincidence of naming rather than any shared history. In Alcorcón, the municipality that built it still owns it, which is why the stadium carries the town's name rather than a sponsor's, a detail that has held for over two decades while club shirts and league status came and went.
