Hřiště Mariánské náměstí
Brno, Czechia
Formerly: no data on stadium name changes
The pitch at Mariánské náměstí belongs to a different order of things entirely — a neighbourhood ground in the Komárov district, in the city's Brno-jih borough.
That club, FC Sparta Brno , has carried several names since it started out in 1921 as SK Rudá Hvězda Brno. It became SK Sparta Brno in 1926, turned into TJ Spartak 1. Brněnská under the post-war system in 1955, and settled on its current name in 1989. Sparta's first home was on Masná street, closed in 1963, after which the club played for a spell on a rented pitch in Žabovřesky before moving to Komárov in 1967, where it has stayed since.
There is nothing grand about what happens there now. The ground hosts 4. Moravskoslezská liga and Krajský přebor fixtures, the kind of regional football where a match against Krumvíř in October 2023 drew 150 spectators to watch Sparta win 4:0. Nothing beyond league business on a natural grass pitch that holds 1,500 at capacity.
