King Abdullah Sport City Stadium

Buraidah's ground is not a stadium standing alone but one piece of the King Abdullah Sports City complex, put up under the supervision of what is now the Saudi Ministry of Sport — then the General Authority for Sports and Club Affairs — during the reign of King Fahd bin Abdul Aziz. It carried the name Prince Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Stadium before it took its present one.

The first official match was played on 24 December 1982 in front of 10,000 spectators. Since then the pitch, natural grass throughout, has been shared more widely than most: besides Al Taawoun, it has taken in home fixtures for Al-Raed, Al-Fayha, Al-Hazem and Al-Kholood.

AFC Cup qualifiers came through in 1993. A Crown Prince Cup round of 16 tie, Al-Raed against Al-Hilal, was staged here in September 2016. In December 2023 the ground hosted the FIFA Club World Cup, Al Ittihad against Auckland City on the 12th. The Saudi national side has used it for 2026 World Cup qualifying and for 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers against Malaysia and Japan, and Al-Taawoun once met South Korea here in a friendly. It has been confirmed as one of the ten venues for the group stage of the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.
