The structure spans the entire width of the building, lifting the eye up from the glass facade below. It is a clean line against the sky.
The arena itself is a mix of steel and glass.
Inside, the floor is not grass but ice for the Kölner Haie, or a hard court for other events. The capacity changes depending on what is happening: about 18,500 for hockey, more for concerts. The last time a football final was played here, Chelsea beat Bayern Munich.
The address is Willy-Brandt-Platz 3, tucked away in the Deutz district. The LED walls replaced the old video cube, changing the look of the interior.
