Melvin Sports Arena (Melvin Sports Complex)

Melvin Sports Complex in Strabane has spent much of its history under other names — Melvin Sports Centre, Melvin Park, Melvin Park Arena.

What marks it out from a standard non-league ground is the mix of people who actually use it. Strabane Athletic FC are the main tenants, but Sion Swifts Ladies FC play there as well. The pitch was relaid in 2017, when a 60mm synthetic 3G/4G surface went down in place of the older grass-and-worn-artificial-turf combination underneath it.

The site went through a £1.15 million refurbishment in 2021, and a further £3.2 million multi-purpose extension opened in 2026, giving the complex's boxing and gymnastics clubs a settled home alongside the football set-up. Round-ball, boxing gloves, gymnastics mats sharing one address is not something a ground this size usually manages.

Strabane Athletic have brought Irish Cup football to Melvin Road, including a tie against Glentoran in 2026. The ground has also staged finals of the Gerry Brown Cup and the Faul Cup, school GAA competitions with no connection to football at all. There is no dedicated club or stadium website; anything official runs through Derry City and Strabane District Council's own pages.
