Nationals Park sits in the Navy Yard area of Washington, D.C.
The design was handled by HOK Sport, which later became Populous, and the building work fell to the Clark/Hunt/Smoot Joint Venture. The total cost came to roughly $783.9 million, a figure that includes the $84.2 million spent on surrounding infrastructure.
Inside, the playing surface is natural Kentucky bluegrass. The capacity has shifted since day one. When the first game was played, the space held 41,888 fans. It was trimmed to 41,546 in 2010, and after renovations completed in 2024, the number settled at 41,373. The all-time attendance record of 45,966 was set on October 12, 2012, during the National League Championship Series against the St. Louis Cardinals.
It is the home of the Washington Nationals of Major League Baseball. The venue has hosted events outside of baseball, including the 2015 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic and the 2018 Major League Baseball All-Star Game. Despite attempts to sell naming rights in 2016 and 2025, the stadium has kept its original title.
