Parque Dr. Enrique Falco Lichtenberger

Montevideo, Uruguay

Formerly: not found

Enrique Falco Lichtenberger stands in Malvín Norte, on Menorca 2111, and belongs to Albion Football Club, one of Uruguay's founding clubs, formed on 1 June 1891. What the ground does not carry is the weight of that history: Albion spent its early decades on the old Field del Albion in Paso Molino, and only moved east to this address later, so the pitch itself is younger than the badge painted on its stands.

The capacity, a modest 2,000, tells its own story: this was never built to hold a First Division crowd, and it hasn't needed to for some time. Albion last competed at the top level of Uruguayan football decades ago, and the ground has settled into the rhythm of a club playing in the lower divisions, its natural grass pitch seeing far fewer occasions than it once did.

There is no record of when it opened, and no former name attached to it — unusual for a Montevideo ground with a club this old, where most stadiums carry at least one prior identity from a merger or a sponsor. Falco Lichtenberger has kept its name and, by most recent accounts, kept little else: the site is now described as largely abandoned, a small enclosure in a residential grid between Juan José Castro and Azara, still nominally home to a club whose founding predates the Uruguayan Football Association itself.
