Stade du Prince Louis Rwagasore
Bujumbura, Burundi
Formerly: Stade du Prince Louis Rwagasore
In 2018 a FIFA-funded project replaced the grass with a synthetic surface, laid by the South African firm Artificial Grass Africa.
A decade earlier, in 2008, floodlights had gone up for night matches.
In 2019 the stadium built for Prince Louis Rwagasore became Stade Intwari . A wider reconstruction to FIFA standards was planned across 2018–2021 and never finished, and in 2021 CAF barred international fixtures there — the ground fell short of the requirements.
The 22,000-capacity structure came down in 2022. What replaced it, on the same site in Mukaza district, in the Buyenzi commune, opened in 2025 under the same name: a new Stade Intwari , built through FIFA Forward, holding 15,000.
