The pitch that gave Sepa Football Centre its name sat here from 1975; when JK Tammeka replaced it, they kept the location and rebuilt everything else. Ground broke on 11 April 2016, and the club had a finished, heated artificial surface open by 10 July — three months, not the multi-year rebuilds more common for facilities of this size.

The financing tells its own story. Of the roughly €600,000 project, €150,000 came from a crowdfunding campaign called "Square Metre", with 3,108 individual backers, and a further €100,000 from the Estonian Football Association. The rest was covered by a 30-year development right granted by the City of Tartu and a bank loan taken on by the club itself — a funding mix built almost entirely around the club's own supporter base rather than a single benefactor or municipal budget line.

It carried the Sepa name for nine years. On 8 August 2025, JK Tammeka signed a ten-year sponsorship deal with the Coop retail chain, and the ground became Tartu Coop staadion. The pitch remains the club's own: JK Tammeka's first team uses it through the winter and early spring before the season moves to grass, while the club's U21 side plays there regularly, alongside youth training sessions and amateur tournaments that fill out the rest of the calendar.
