Stadium
Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium
Yerevan, Armenia
Formerly: Dinamo, Republican
It came out of reconstruction in 1999 as the Republican — Hanrapetakan — and later that same year, after the killing of prime minister Vazgen Sargsyan, it took his name and has carried it since.
The rebuild that preceded all this was the work of an architect and the engineer Varos Pinajyan: eighteen extra rows of terracing, arcades, and a decorative western facade that lifted the ground past 20,000.
Ararat-Armenia played here from 1935 to 1970 and returned in 2015; Pyunik had a spell from 2001 to 2013 and came back in 2017. The Armenia national side has used it since 1999.
