Ask Belfast fans why Wilgar Park is nicknamed the Hen Run and most just shrug. What can be traced is that Dundela have played on this ground since 1900, five years after the club itself grew out of workers at the Agnew family's dairy farm.

The ground's biggest afternoon came in 1955, when Dundela, then a second-tier side, went into the Irish Cup final as outsiders and beat Glenavon 3-0 under captain Bobby McAuley. Forty years later, the social club fitted a mirror in memory of another captain, Michael Goddard.

Dundela's record in the second tier stands apart from anything the club has managed higher up: ten divisional titles, and one unbeaten campaign, in 1991/92, that no other side in that division has repeated.

None of that history has bought the pitch any slack. In February 2024, the club learned Wilgar Park could not be licensed for the NIFL Premiership because the playing surface falls roughly 4.5 metres short of the 60 metres required — a shortfall that has not been closed.
