Yüzüncü Yıl Atatürk Stadyumu

Bursa built a new stadium and, for a while, could not settle on what to call it. The ground rose on the site of the old Gazi Stadyumu, which had stood since 1932 and closed at the end of December 2015, days after the replacement opened. Locals christened the new arena Timsah Arena almost immediately, and the nickname — the "Crocodile Arena" — has stuck harder than any of the official names printed on the club's letterhead, including the current Yüzüncü Yıl Atatürk Stadyumu and an earlier sponsored version tied to the dairy brand Sütaş.

It holds 43,361 and sits in the Acemler neighbourhood of the Osmangazi district, on ground that has hosted top-flight football in the city for the better part of a century, even if the concrete under the stands is barely a decade old. The natural grass pitch has needed reinforcement work over the years to hold up under Bursa's fixture list, a detail that shows up more in groundskeeping reports than in matchday conversation.

The stadium is the home of Bursaspor, and the switch from the old Gazi Stadyumu to this one marked a generational change for supporters who had watched matches on the same spot since the 1930s — a demolished ground giving way to a rebuilt one rather than a club moving across town. The various renamings since 2015 have done little to change how people in Bursa actually refer to the place.
