Ander Barrenetxea Muguruza

Ander Barrenetxea's name has a permanent place in Copa del Rey history. In the 2025–26 final against Atlético Madrid at La Cartuja, he headed in a cross from Gonçalo Guedés just 14 seconds into the match, the fastest goal ever scored in a Copa del Rey final, breaking a record that had stood since Manuel Badenes struck in 1952. Real Sociedad went on to draw 2-2 after extra time and won the shootout 4-3, giving Barrenetxea his second Copa del Rey winner's medal after the club's 2019–20 triumph over Athletic Bilbao. The achievement later earned him a Guinness World Record.

Barrenetxea joined Real Sociedad's academy from Antiguoko and rose through the club's C and B sides before making his senior debut in December 2018, becoming the first footballer born in the 21st century to appear in La Liga. He was promoted permanently to the first team the following June and extended his contract to 2027 in February 2021, never having gone out on loan. Across his career at the club he has made 185 appearances and scored 19 goals as a right-footed left winger.

At youth level, Barrenetxea won the UEFA European Under-19 Championship in 2019, coming on as a substitute in the final win over Portugal, and was a runner-up at the Under-21 Euros in 2023, losing the final to England. He made his senior debut for Spain in a goalless friendly against Egypt, capping a rise that took him from Real Sociedad's lower sides to a moment of individual history on one of Spanish football's biggest stages.
