About the player

He made his senior debut on 2 June 2021 in a friendly against England, which Austria lost 1–0. He then started all four of the team's matches at UEFA Euro 2020, played in 2021, among them the Round of 16 defeat by Italy. He has 14 caps.

The route there ran through England. Bachmann left the youth ranks of FK Austria Wien for Stoke City in the summer of 2011. He did not establish himself in the senior side and instead gained experience on loan. He spent 2014–15 at Wrexham. In the summer of 2015 he joined Ross County, but the loan ended by mutual consent after two appearances. In October 2015 he moved to Bury on a one-month deal, which was extended, and he stayed until January 2016. Stoke released him at the end of the 2016–17 season.

On 1 July 2017 he signed for Watford on a free transfer, agreeing a three-year contract. He has since made more than 120 appearances for the club in all competitions. A loan to Kilmarnock followed in 2018–19.

The most recent seasons have been less settled. Watford sent him to Deportivo de La Coruña on 12 August 2025 for the 2025–26 campaign, then recalled him in January 2026. He went on loan to Leyton Orient for the rest of the season, but the spell was cut short in February when he injured an ankle in the warm-up before his debut.
