About the player
Douglas Borel was handed a debut by Bahia in January 2019, at 16, five years after he joined the club's youth system at 12. Born Douglas do Espírito Santos Torres in Camaçari, in Bahia state.
His first senior goal came in April 2022, against Náutico in the Série B. Bahia's honours list includes the Campeonato Baiano in 2019 and 2023 and the Copa do Nordeste in 2021, all of which fall within his years there. He made 33 league appearances for the club between 2019 and 2024.
Much of that period was spent on loan. He played 12 games for Chapecoense in 2023, then went out twice in 2024: ten appearances for Portuguesa and five for Goiás.
His next move took him to Portugal. Santa Clara signed him on a three-year contract on 1 July 2025 and loaned him straight to Oliveirense for the 2025/26 season. In Liga Portugal 2 he played 23 times and scored once. In August 2026 he went on loan again, this time to Penafiel, where he has made four appearances.
