About the player
Bello came off the Atlanta United academy production line as a homegrown player, and within months he had a winners' medal: Atlanta took the 2018 MLS Cup in the same year he made his senior debut. The U.S. Open Cup and the Campeones Cup followed in 2019. By the time he left he had 52 appearances and three goals for Atlanta.
The move to Europe came in January 2022, when Arminia Bielefeld paid a fee of around €1.8 million for him. He played 31 matches in Germany. When his contract expired he was free to choose his next club, and in July 2023 he signed for LASK without a fee. He has been a regular starter in Austria since.
His international career began quickly. He was capped for the first time on 31 January 2021 against Trinidad and Tobago, and later that year he started the CONCACAF Gold Cup final against Mexico, which the United States won. He was left out of the squad for the 2022 World Cup.
The recognition arrived early too: back in 2016–17 he was named U.S. Soccer Development Academy Player of the Year for the East Conference at U15/16 level, and in 2021, his final year in MLS, he was selected as an All-Star.
