About the player
Gustaf Westström received his first call-up to Sweden's Under-21 side in September 2026, for the European Championship qualifiers against Poland and North Macedonia. The left-footed defender, who can play at centre-back or left-back, had reached that point through a route with few stops.
He grew up in Bjärred and came through his local club, Bjärreds IF. He played twice for its senior team in Division 4 in 2021. He then moved to the youth side of Jönköpings Södra, and in 2022 to Landskrona BoIS, where he played in the under-19 team.
Landskrona gave him a first senior contract in November 2023. A year later he was handed his Superettan debut, coming on as a substitute in a 1-1 draw with Degerfors IF on 2 November 2024.
The next season did not go in a straight line. In February 2025 he signed an extension and was loaned to BK Olympic under a development arrangement between the clubs. The loan was ended in March after injuries to other players, and he returned to Landskrona.
Once back, he made regular appearances. Over the 2025 season he played 18 league matches and two in the Swedish Cup. He did not score. His current contract runs to the end of 2027.
