Jean Harisson Marcelin

Rapid Wien built the deal on physical presence: at 1.97 metres, Marcelin gives the Austrian side a centre-back few opponents will out-jump. He signed for the club on a reported fee of €1 million on 9 July 2025, putting pen to paper on a contract running to the end of the 2027/28 season.

His route there took in three countries. Born in Le Port on Réunion, he started out at local clubs EFP École de Football du Port and SS Jeanne d'Arc before AJ Auxerre brought him into their academy in 2015. He turned professional there in February 2018 and made 25 Ligue 2 appearances before AS Monaco paid a reported €10 million for him on 30 January 2020.

The move never quite delivered a settled place at Monaco, and by July 2023 he had joined Girondins de Bordeaux on a free transfer, adding 21 Ligue 2 appearances there. A year later he left French football altogether for Beitar Jerusalem in the Israeli Premier League, where he scored three goals in 33 appearances.

Internationally, Marcelin has represented both France, at under-19 and under-20 level, and Madagascar, the country of his other citizenship. He has been capped twice by the senior Madagascar side as of March 2025.
