About the player
Kieran Ngwenya was born in Glasgow and came through the youth ranks at Tynecastle before joining Aberdeen's academy, where he stayed until 2020 and signed his first professional contract that year. The club sent him out on a string of loans instead: Cove Rangers, then Kelty Hearts, where he was part of the squad that won the Scottish League Two title in the 2021–22 season, followed by spells at Raith Rovers and Partick Thistle.
He left Aberdeen for Dunfermline Athletic in June 2024, joining on a free transfer and a two-year contract. His contract ran out in May 2026 and he moved on as a free agent, signing with Rotherham United in August of that year.
His international story has taken an unusual turn. Eligible for both Malawi and Trinidad and Tobago, Ngwenya first represented Malawi, making his debut against Tanzania in June 2021 and winning two caps before leaving that set-up in 2022. He later switched allegiance to Trinidad and Tobago, making his debut for the Soca Warriors against South Korea in May 2026.
