About the player
Football runs in the family for Lucas Hermes: his father Christian and his brother Sascha both played for 1. FC Saarbrücken, the club where Hermes himself began, before moving on to SC Freiburg's youth ranks, where he won the DFB-Junioren-Pokal with the U19 side.
His senior career took shape gradually rather than in one dramatic leap. At Mainz 05's reserve side he made 54 league appearances and scored 10 goals, then moved to Kickers Offenbach, where he added 7 goals in 63 matches and won the Hessenpokal. He scored 16 goals in 49 league games at FSV Frankfurt, among his contributions there were seven assists for teammate Cas Peters.
Hermes joined SSV Jahn Regensburg on a free transfer in July 2025, signing a contract that runs to 2027. He has continued to find the net at his new club, with 4 goals in 22 league appearances so far. His time in Regensburg has not been without setbacks: in January 2026 he suffered a broken frontal sinus in training, an injury he later described as the most serious of his career, though he made a full recovery.
Hermes has not been capped at international level. His market value peaked at €350,000 in December 2023.
