About the player
Mattaios Tsigkas spent five years in Panathinaikos's youth system before leaving Greece in 2022 for VfB Stuttgart. In the 2023–24 campaign he finished as top scorer in the U17 Bundesliga, with 23 goals in 25 matches.
He progressed through Stuttgart's junior ranks and, in May 2026, won the DFB-Pokal der Junioren with the club's U19 side, beating VfL Wolfsburg 3–0 in the final at the Karl-Liebknecht-Stadion in Potsdam. It was Stuttgart's fifth title in the competition. Tsigkas also stepped up to VfB Stuttgart II, making two appearances in the 3. Liga without scoring.
In September 2026, with his path at Stuttgart still opening up, Tsigkas moved to VVV-Venlo on loan for the 2026–27 season, joining the Eerste Divisie with an option to buy included in the deal. At 19, he now has the chance to get regular senior football at a level below the German third tier where he made his first professional appearances.
