Michal Cupák

Michal Cupák came to Zlín in the summer of 2025 after a career spent almost entirely in one place. He joined the Kroměříž academy of SK Hanácká Slavia at the age of seven, and the club was the only one he played for at senior level, from 2016 until his move.

The move on 17 July 2025 was on a free transfer, with a three-year contract. He did not need long to justify it. In his debut in the Chance Liga against Teplice he both scored and set up a goal, and he added another against Slovácko. That run of form brought a nomination for the league's Player of the Month award for July 2025, although it went to Pech of Mladá Boleslav.

At Kroměříž he had worn the captain's armband since the 2021/22 season. In 2022/23 he contributed 10 goals and eight assists as the team reached the Czech National League, the second tier. In 2024/25 he led the side to the title in the Moravian-Silesian Football League, the third tier, and that secured promotion back to the National League.

That season also produced a cup run in the MOL Cup, in which Hanácká Slavia knocked out top-flight opponents, 1. FC Slovácko and MFK Karviná. Cupák was the captain of a third-tier side that refused to go away in the competition, and the games against Slovácko are now part of his story in both directions: his former club beat them in the cup, and he later scored against them in the league.

He has not been capped by the Czech Republic at any level.
