About the player
Nico Rissi made the step up to Grasshopper Club Zürich's first team in July 2025. He had arrived there in the summer of 2020 from FC Wil 1900, after starting out in the youth ranks at FC Rapperswil-Jona.
The path through Grasshoppers II was gradual rather than immediate. Rissi featured 13 times in his first season in Group 3 of the 1. Liga Classic, then 14 the following year, before his involvement grew: 20 appearances and a first goal in 2024–25, followed by 22 appearances and two goals this season as the reserves moved into Group 2.
That steady increase in game time preceded his promotion to senior football. Rissi made three appearances in the Swiss Super League in the 2025–26 season without scoring, and has since added eight more in 2026–27, also without finding the net. A left-footed defender who wears the number 57 shirt, he has yet to add a first-team goal to his record.
