About the player
Raul Marian Opruț moved abroad as a teenager, joining Chievo's academy in 2014. Genoa handed him a first professional contract in 2018; instead he spent that season out on loan at Albissola. His path back to Romania came in 2019, when he signed for FC Hermannstadt as a free agent and helped the side finish as Liga II runners-up in the 2021–22 campaign and earn promotion to Liga I.
He was loaned back to Hermannstadt in January 2024 to finish the season, then moved on loan again that summer, this time to Dinamo București. At Dinamo the left-back settled quickly into the starting XI, a run of performances that brought a place in the Liga I Team of the Week for Matchday 4 and a spot in the Liga I Team of the Season for 2025–26.
Dinamo triggered a purchase clause in April 2025, and the permanent transfer was completed that summer for a fee of around €200,000 — roughly half of what Kortrijk had paid Genoa two years earlier — with Opruț putting pen to a long-term contract said to run until 2029. Internationally, he picked up caps at both U19 and U21 level, before going on to make his senior debut for the national team, for whom he has been capped five times.
