About the player
Valerii Samar left Oleksandriya as a free agent on 23 July 2023 and signed for Livyi Bereh the same day. The Kyiv-born defender has been a regular member of the squad since he arrived.
His football began in the capital. He spent four years at Zmina Kyiv, from 2010 to 2014, and then moved to Zmina-Obolon Kyiv, where he stayed until 2018. The following year he joined Oleksandriya. In the 2020/21 season he played for the club's U21 side. His senior appearances there came in friendlies and in the Ukrainian Cup. He stayed until the summer of 2023.
Livyi Bereh gave him a settled place in a squad whose fortunes changed quickly. The club won promotion to the Ukrainian Premier League for the 2024–25 season. By 2025–26 it was back in the First League, so Samar has played for it at both levels of the pyramid. He is right-footed and, at 192 cm.
Livyi Bereh, one of several clubs in Kyiv, gave him a first regular role after four years in Oleksandriya's system, where his senior football was limited to cup ties.
