About the player
Yannis Nahounou grew up playing for CS Meaux and Montfermeil FC before joining the OGC Nice academy in 2019, having been born in nearby Meaux. He worked his way through Nice's youth ranks and signed his first professional contract in January 2023. The following season he made his senior debut, featuring in Ligue 1 and in the Coupe de France against Auxerre, a run that ended for Nice in the quarter-finals; he was not part of the squad when Paris Saint-Germain beat Lyon in that season's final.
In July 2024, Nahounou left France for Italy, joining AC Reggiana 1919 in Serie B on a two-year deal with an option for a third season.
At youth international level , Nahounou has represented France, receiving a call-up to the under-16 side in 2019 and later being selected for the under-20 squad in the autumn of 2023.
