Adama Kenema

Most of Adama Kenema's opponents share half its name. The club has met Fasil Kenema, Bahir Dar Kenema, Dire Dawa Kenema, Arba Minch Kenema, Shashemene Kenema and Mekelle Kenema over the years, and no single fixture among them has hardened into a derby.

The club began life as Nazareth Technical College, founded in 1991 by local businessmen and athletes in Adama, and only later took the name it carries now. Promotion to the top flight came on penalties: in the 2013/14 season Adama Kenema beat Woldiya Kenema 5-4 in a shootout after the sides could not be separated, taking the Ethiopian National League title and a place in the Ethiopian Premier League for 2014/15.

The women's side has had its own moment. In 2018/19 it won the Ethiopian Women's Premier League, with Loza Abera taking the golden ball and Senaf Wakuma the golden boot.

The academy has produced the club's most notable export. Kenaan Markneh came through Adama Kenema's youth system before signing for Guinea's Horoya Athletic Club on a four-year deal in August 2019, becoming the first Ethiopian footballer to join a top-flight West African club. Surafel Dagnachew took a different route out, leaving for Fasil Kenema and then Loudoun United after debuting at Adama City in 2016, and was named the Ethiopian Football Federation's Player of the Year in 2019.

Home games are played in front of no more than 4,000 people at the Abebe Bikila Stadium, where the club continues to draw on the same academy pipeline that produced Markneh.
