Buffles

The Stade Municipal de Parakou holds 8,000 people. Les Buffles du Borgou came out of that split in 1976, when the two leading sides in Parakou merged.

The merger did not end local rivalry. Real FC Parakou and Dynamo FC de Parakou remain across the pitch, and the three meet in what is called the Derby de Parakou. Red shirts, shorts and socks make the Buffles easy to pick out.

The first decade brought results quickly. They won the Coupe du Bénin in 1979, took the national championship in 1980, and lifted the cup again in 1982. In 1987 they reached the quarter-finals of the UFOA Cup and went out to Cornerstone FC on penalties.

The league title then came only in 1992, and the next three arrived in 2014, 2017 and 2019. The last of those was paired with the Supercoupe du Bénin the same year. Those seasons gave the club its recent continental runs. In the CAF Champions League they lost to Enyimba FC in 2015 and to ASEC Mimosas in 2018. In 2020 the tie with MC Alger was abandoned. A year later FC Kallon knocked them out of the same competition.

Among the players, Adjai Moussa is the one with a long association: the striker played for the club in three separate spells between 2008 and 2015. Off the pitch the leadership has been reshaped more than once, with transitional bureaus installed in September 2023 and December 2025.
