Davis Legacy

The complex on County Road 105D in Davis is also called the Tsakopoulos Family Soccer Complex, and it holds about 1,000 spectators. It sits at the centre of an organisation whose players are mostly children. Recreational fall programmes run on the same site where the semi-professional side plays.

That arrangement follows from how the club began. In 1992 local parents and coaches set up the Davis Youth Soccer League, including co-founder Ashley Yudin. They wanted competitive football and split from the local AYSO chapter and the California Youth Soccer Association (CYSA). Sometime between 2005 and 2010 the league left CYSA, joined NorCal Premier Soccer and took the name Davis Legacy Soccer Club. In 2017 David Robertson took over technical operations from Yudin, and he is now Executive Director.

The senior team arrived in 2019, in what was then the USL Premier Development League, and joined USL League Two officially for the 2022 season. It plays in red at home and in white shirts with black shorts away. Mark Torguson is head coach and also directs the goalkeeping. Results have been hard to come by: two wins, one draw and nine defeats in 2022, then two wins, three draws and nine defeats in both 2023 and 2024. The side has never reached the playoffs. It finished ninth in the Southwest Division in 2025, and this year it was tied for last in the Western Conference. Marin FC Legends are the regional rival in the NorCal Division.

The youth pathway has produced more. Lucas Fernandez-Kim, a midfielder who graduated from UC Davis in 2025, was picked by the Portland Timbers in the third round of the 2026 MLS SuperDraft. Grant Stoneman played here in his college summers and later turned out for Lansing Ignite, San Diego Loyal SC and Rhode Island FC. The club's slogan, "Where the Legacy meets the pitch", fits a ground where the young players start out and the senior team plays.
