Mutondo Stars

Mutondo Stars reached the Zambia Super League for the 2023/24 season, three years after a group of former Nkana officials revived the name. The original Mutondo Stars had become defunct.

The climb was quick. By March 2021 the new side was top of the FAZ Copperbelt Division 1 table. The club has won no trophies since the revival.

Kitwe supplies the opposition. Jumulo FC are the other Kitwe side, and their meetings with Mutondo Stars are called the Kitwe derby. The nickname is Evergreen .

The Arthur Davies Stadium stands in Ndeke Township. Its name comes from Arthur Walter Davies, the founder chairman of Power Dynamos, a different club. Mutondo Stars play under the name of a man who built another team, and his name is the one the supporters see on the gate.
