The squad trains and plays there in yellow shirts and green shorts, the same colours the senior team wears, and it carries no nickname of its own — no 'Brave Warriors' tag, just the number after the country's name.

The side was already active by 2006, when it travelled to Luanda for a Four Nations tournament and pushed into qualifying for the Beijing Olympics. Bobby Samaria coached that group, which fed several names into the senior national team afterwards, among them Lazarus Kaimbi. Two decades on, John Sikerete has taken charge for the qualifiers toward the 2028 Games, with a squad named in September 2026.

Qualification itself has stayed out of reach. Namibia have entered Olympic qualifying for 2008, 2012 and 2020 without going through, and the Africa U23 Cup of Nations has followed the same pattern, with failed attempts in 2011, 2015, 2019 and 2023. At the COSAFA U-23 Championship the best return came in 2001, a fourth-place finish.

Angola has been the fixture that matters most.

Four appearances in continental qualifying, and not one has carried Namibia's under-23s through.
