Kigali runs on football the way most East African capitals do, and the national federation, FERWAFA, keeps a second Amavubi in reserve at Stade Amahoro for the players not yet ready for the senior wasps' nest.
The team's first recorded competitive outing came in 2015, in qualifying for the CAF U-23 Championship that doubled as a route to the Rio Olympics that year. Rwanda drew Uganda, and the tie carried enough weight in Kigali that the fixture became the closest thing this age group has to a rivalry.
Home games are played at Amahoro, rebuilt and reopened in 2024 with room for 45,000.
One qualifier, one rival, zero trophies.
