The ground is home to IF Fløya, a club that plays in the lower leagues. It is not the same as the larger stadium used by Tromsø IL, which sits closer to the city. Fløya Arena has no name for its own stands, and there is no separate building for the press. The capacity is listed as 600, though some sources suggest a higher number, but the actual number of people who fill the seats is rarely more than a few hundred. The club has been here since before the current building was finished, and they have built it themselves. The surface is FIFA PRO certified, and new floodlights were installed in 2022, but the club has always been about the local community. The old pitch, Fløyabanen, is gone, but the name lives on in the way the fans speak about the place. They do not talk about the size of the ground, but about the cold nights when the wind blows down from the mountains. The pitch is flat, but the weather is not. The ground is not a destination for tourists, but for the people who live in the valley. They come for the matches, not for the architecture.
