Bobby Allain

Bobby Allain's parents are both deaf, and the goalkeeper grew up fluent in sign language as a result. That background now has a formal outlet: he works as goalkeeper coach for France's deaf football team, a role that runs alongside his playing career at Grenoble. His family also has a footballing thread of its own — his uncle, Xavier Perez, played in goal for Red Star in the 1980s.

Born in Clamart, Allain holds British nationality through his mother as well as French, and is of Scottish descent. That connection took a literal form early in his career, when he crossed to Scotland in 2010 to join Clyde on a professional student contract. The move lasted only seven months before injury and family reasons brought him back to France, where he restarted at US Ivry and then settled at Red Star.

A free transfer took him to Dijon in 2016, where he made his professional debut two years later. His move to Olympiacos in 2019 brought him to a new level: as understudy to José Sá, Allain made 8 appearances and kept 2 clean sheets, but was still part of the squad that won the Greek Super League and Greek Cup double in 2019–20.

What followed was a period of frequent moves, taking in Örebro SK in Sweden, Dalkurd, Gazélec Ajaccio and Ionikos, before he joined Grenoble in August 2023. In May 2024 he signed a contract extension running to 2027.
