Bruno Barra

Bruno Barra holds the all-time appearance record at Volta Redonda, a tally he built almost entirely at one club. A product of the club's youth academy, he made his senior debut in 2006 and, aside from a string of loan spells, has stayed there ever since, passing 450 games by 2026 and receiving a tribute for his 300th appearance in 2021.

His path to that record was not straightforward. Between 2009 and 2015 he was farmed out on loan to Paraíba do Sul, Barra Mansa, Macaé and Tombense. A permanent move to Atlético Goianiense in 2016 brought a Campeonato Brasileiro Série B title, and a year at Oeste followed before he returned to Volta Redonda.

Back at the club, he became a fixture of its Campeonato Carioca campaigns, setting the record for the most consecutive appearances in the competition this century across seven editions between 2018 and 2024, and 16 editions in total. He was part of the squad that won the Campeonato Carioca Série A2 in 2022, added the Taça Rio in 2016, and lifted the Copa Rio twice, in 2007 and 2022. He is also the club's sixth-highest scorer in its history.

Age has not slowed him down. In July 2026, at 40 years old, he scored in a 3-0 win over Amazonas in the Série C, becoming the oldest player ever to score for Volta Redonda. He has never been capped by Brazil at senior international level.
