About the player
Juanma Herzog came through Las Palmas' academy after arriving from Adeje CF at 15. He started the Copa del Rey away win at Manacor at the end of October 2023, and his league debut in January 2024: he scored in a 3–0 win over Villarreal at home, the second goal of the match. A few days earlier he had played the full 90 minutes in a Copa del Rey defeat to Tenerife, the club from his home island.
A centre-back by trade, Herzog has since become a fixture of the squad. When his name was linked with a loan move to Tenerife in January 2025, manager Diego Martínez played down the rumours.
Internationally, Herzog has represented Spain at Under-21 level, making his debut in a friendly against the Czech Republic in Lorca in March 2025. He was named in the 23-man squad for the UEFA European Under-21 Championship in Slovakia, though he watched from the bench as Spain went out in the quarter-finals to England.
