Lucas Silva

Lucas Silva's first taste of professional football lasted 12 seconds. River Plate had already wrapped up a 3-1 win over Aldosivi when he came on for Facundo Colidio in second-half stoppage time on 25 April 2026. He never touched the ball.

His path to that moment started far from the Monumental, in La Dulce, a small town in Necochea, Buenos Aires province, where he came up through Deportivo La Dulce. In 2016, at nine years old, he travelled for a trial with River Plate and was taken on, working through every youth category before adding seven appearances for the reserve side under Marcelo Escudero.

It did not take him long to make an impression once he had his chance. In River's last Copa Sudamericana group match, away to Bolivia's Blooming on 27 May 2026, Silva scored his first senior goal, a strike from outside the box late in a 3-0 win. Days later he signed his first professional contract with the club, running until December 2030 and reportedly carrying a release clause of €100 million.

A first trophy has not followed yet. Silva was an unused substitute when River lost the 2026 Torneo Apertura final to Belgrano de Córdoba, and the club's Copa Argentina campaign ended in the round of 16 against Aldosivi.
