About the player
Ayala's career has run in a loop: he started at Macará, left, and returned there in January 2025 as a free agent, more than a decade after his debut for the club in 2012. In between, the left-back built his career at Independiente del Valle, where he stayed from 2013 to 2019 and reached the final of the 2016 Copa Libertadores, the club's first appearance in that final, lost to River Plate.
A move to Liga Deportiva Universitaria in June 2019 brought decorated years of his career. Over four seasons at LDU Quito he won the Ecuadorian Serie A title twice, in 2019 and 2020, added the Copa Ecuador in 2019, and won the Supercopa de Ecuador in 2020 and 2021.
At international level, he represented Ecuador at youth level, appearing twice for the under-20 side at the 2013 South American Youth Championship in Argentina, but has not been capped by the senior national team.
