Ryan Michael Hollingshead

Ryan Hollingshead spent his college years at UCLA, and the numbers show it: 16 goals and 21 assists in 81 appearances between 2009 and 2012, a season good enough to make him Pac-12 Player of the Year and a NSCAA Second-Team All-American. FC Dallas picked him 20th overall in the 2013 MLS SuperDraft, though he did not sign straight away, stepping back first to focus on family and charity work before putting pen to paper in December 2013 and making his professional debut the following year.

On 6 January 2017, Hollingshead was struck by a car on an icy highway in Irving, Texas, while stopping to help another driver. He suffered three broken vertebrae in his neck and temporary paralysis. He returned to play that April.

At FC Dallas he won the Supporters' Shield and the U.S. Open Cup, both in 2016, before a February 2022 trade sent him to Los Angeles FC in exchange for Marco Farfan. He lifted the MLS Cup and a second Supporters' Shield with LAFC in 2022, added the U.S. Open Cup in 2024, and was named an MLS All-Star in 2023. He was also named MLS Humanitarian of the Year in 2017, recognition of the work he has done off the pitch.

On the international stage, Hollingshead made his USMNT debut on 8 February 2015 in a 2-0 friendly win over Panama, and was later called up for the United States' run to the semi-final and final of the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
